Lately I have been working on a few new projects, one of which involved recording a pile of my advertising discs to give to a radio museum. So I thought I would pull out a few interesting ones to include on this blog. They are interesting due to their social impact in the case of the National Service announcement, or the price and specifications or descriptions for a couple of cars.

I was only a youngster during National Service. So I wasn't aware that nationality didn't come into it. If you turned 20 and you had your home here, you had to register. It didn't matter if you were born in Australia or elsewhere.
So I found this one interesting.
So I found this one interesting.

Its good to see that some things don't change. Definitely some politics going on here.

I found this Woolworths Girl Watchers Fairy Webb Stockings a bit creepy. But a bargain at 79 cents.

I think they stole that arrow from Robin Hood.

Top speed of 84 mph and fantastic brakes, only 799 pounds tax paid. Its got the lot.

Yes, I do remember Radio & TV Licences. The stamps on the cardboard etc. Fortunately the system was finished before I bought my first radio and television.

I thought you might want to check the shoe pricing and styles from 1965.

Ah, Vincent's powders, the old folk loved them. Downed them straight, no water. Anything goes wrong...Vincents will fix it! I love the testimonials!
Okay, well that will do for now. If you enjoyed the ads, just make some comments and ask for more and I will put some more up. I have several hundred and at least another 20 already recorded. I will put some very early Pepsi ads up next time as well as classic brands like Minties, Arnotts, Nestles from back when it was pronounced the way it is spelt, Victa and more. I can do a section on obscure (today) cigarette brands as well.
Enjoy!
