Members Resources
In order to conduct our research into the Golden Years of Australian
Radio, the group collects Magazines, Books and Documents, as well
as personal recollections from the people who were involved.
Whilst
several of our members are experienced at voice recognition, documents
or magazine interviews that mention the names of actors and what shows
they are appearing in at the time of interview or picture taking,
are invalueable tools for tracking down who is playing the part in
a series or serial up to 70 years ago.
Unfortunately, many of the Biographies or Autobiographies of recent
years, have left out important details of the subject's radio career.
It seems that they consider that nobody is interested in radio, so
all the effort is put into the Theatre or Television careers instead.
Often you read "I got started in radio where I was fortunate
to be kept busy playing various parts, then I got offered a chance
of playing........in the Theatre" from there on the detail is
minute, where every part played or offered is listed.
Listed in this section is an example of our holdings with regard
to documentation. If you know of a book or reference item that you
think will assist us, please share your knowledge with us. If you
have old Radio Weekly or Listener In and other radio magazines heading
to the dump, please allow us to take them off your hands or at least
access to them for research purposes.
